ELSTAT | Sharp rise in revenues at museums and archaeological sites in August

An impressive increase in revenues at museums and archaeological sites in August is recorded by data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), even though visitor numbers were lower compared to the same month in 2024.

The Acropolis Museum and the archaeological site, of course, attracted by far the highest number of visitors compared to the rest (see details).

More specifically, according to the results of the Survey on Museum and Archaeological Site Attendance:

In August 2025, compared to the corresponding month of 2024, a decrease of 1.3% was recorded in museum visitors, an increase of 8.2% in free-admission visitors, and an increase of 34.0% in the corresponding revenues.

At archaeological sites, in August 2025 compared to the corresponding month of 2024, a decrease of 5.4% was recorded in visitors, an increase of 8.4% in free-admission visitors, and an increase of 44.8% in the corresponding revenues.

During the eight-month period January–August 2025, a decrease of 0.9% was observed in museum visitors compared to the corresponding period of 2024, an increase of 8.0% in free-admission visitors, and an increase of 34.3% in the corresponding revenues.

At archaeological sites, during the eight-month period January–August 2025, a decrease of 4.6% was observed compared to the corresponding period of 2024 in the number of visitors, an increase of 4.8% in free-admission visitors, and an increase of 39.9% in the corresponding revenues.
