The Municipality of Rhodes approved a grant of 300,000 Euro to the Rhodes Tourism Promotion Organization, with the aim of implementing the Action Plan for 2025.
According to the municipality’s decision, the Rhodes Tourism Promotion Organization has demonstrably acquired, in addition to the necessary know-how and experience, a wide network of partners abroad, as a result of which it has a high priority in booking spaces at international tourism fairs, assistance in organizing tourism events with the participation of important representatives of the tourism markets of interest to Rhodes.
The Organization also promotes Rhodes as a tourist destination at major tourism fairs in the rest of Greece and abroad, contributing substantially to the tourism development and economy of the island of Rhodes, since tourism promotion, firstly, preserves traditional markets and, secondly, opens up new avenues to other markets.
After a period of unprecedented tourism recession and shrinking tourism income, which accounts for the majority of the island’s economy, immediate strategic and operational action is required, according to the municipality, in order for Rhodes to be able to face intense international competition and optimize visitor arrivals.
Furthermore, the Tourism Directorate of the Municipality of Rhodes, and in particular the Department of Promotion, Promotion and Information, deals, among other things, with the operation of the Information Offices of the Municipality of Rhodes, and ensures the planning and implementation of tourism promotion programs for the area of the Municipality in collaboration with the Department of Communication, Public and International Relations and the relevant bodies in collaboration with other areas inside and outside the country.
For the promotion of the island, tourism marketing, as well as all actions in the rest of Greece and abroad, such as tourist exhibitions, workshops, journalistic groups, co-organization of events with tour operators, collaborations with airlines, publications and production of the required material, responsibility has been assigned to the Rhodes Tourism Promotion Organization, with the parallel support and contribution of the executives of the Tourism Directorate of the Municipality of Rhodes.
Finally, the Rhodes Tourism Promotion Organization has been implementing all these actions for several years in collaboration with the island’s leading tourism bodies, such as the Rhodes Hoteliers’ Association, the Dodecanese Chamber of Commerce, the Rhodes Tourist Offices Association, the Dodecanese Tourist Accommodation Federation, the Rhodes Commercial Association, the Rhodes Car Rental Association, the Rhodes Dodecanese Restaurant Association, who also participate in the Organization’s Board of Directors and who constitute the main pillars for the development of Rhodes’ tourism strategy.
