Targeted actions for the tourism promotion of the Peloponnese

The Region is taking targeted actions to upgrade the tourism product and strengthen the international visibility of the Peloponnese, through a cycle of strategic contacts and joint actions with institutional bodies, as highlighted in a relevant announcement.

In this context, a working meeting was recently held between the Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism, Thanos Michelongonas, and the Secretary General of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (GNTO), Andreas Fiorentinou. The aim of the meeting was to coordinate actions for the tourism promotion of the Peloponnese both in the domestic and international markets.

The discussion focused on three key interventions:

Promoting the “Peloponnese Trails”: This is an ambitious project that aims to create a unified network of trails throughout the Peloponnese, making the region an attractive destination for hiking and nature tourism with high added value.

Strengthening digital presence through Visit Greece: The upgrading of the Region’s visibility on the official digital channels of the Greek National Tourist Organization was discussed, with the aim of strengthening the awareness of the “Peloponnese” brand and attracting visitors from dynamic foreign markets.

Interconnection with airlines: Joint initiatives are being planned with air carriers to support and expand flights to Kalamata International Airport, which operates as the main gateway to the Peloponnese.

“We are consistently investing in extroversion and sustainable tourism. We want the Peloponnese to gain a strong voice on the international map of destinations and to attract visitors seeking authentic experiences,” said Deputy Regional Governor Thanos Michelongonas.

The Peloponnese Region continues to methodically lay the foundations for a modern and diversified tourism product, investing in partnerships, infrastructure, and digital tools that open up new horizons for the region’s tourism.
