Greece’s journalists’ unions have announced a new strike over pension reforms, leading to a near-blackout of news coverage.
After print and broadcast media each went on strike for 48 hours during the previous days, the Panhellenic Federation of Journalists’ Unions (POESY) decided a new round of action would begin on Sunday morning.
The strike is due to last until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, but POESY consented that news could be broadcast on the radio from 1.15 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. and there could be TV bulletins from 8 p.m. to 8.15 p.m.
It also clarified that news websites can also be updated during these strike intervals.
