Drones “enlisted” to curb illegal building construction in Greece

The Ministry of Environment and Energy will be using drones, satellites and aerial photography in order to curb the construction of illegal buildings and locate owners of who have not yet reached a settlement with the state.

According to ministry officials, the fines for illegal buildings will not be across the board and owners of such buildings will be called to declare their building to relevant services and pay a fine.The fine has not yet been determined.

The draft of a bill on the use of unmaned aircraft systems has been published online for public debate, which will conclude on the 8th of June.
