Athens metro system trains, including line 1 from Piraeus to Kifissia, and trams stopped running after 22:00 on Friday and until the end of the shift due to a work stoppage by staff. STASY staff are protesting against plans for the privatisation of public transport in Athens and delays in the signature of a new collective agreement.
The employees have also announced a series of work stoppages that will continue next week as well, with a strike from the start of the shift until 10:00 on Monday morning.
