High temperatures will prevail on Sunday and Monday and the thermometer is expected to reach 40C in Athens while in western Greece, central Greece and in eastern Peloponnese will will reach 41°C. A small drop in the temperature is expected on Monday in western and northern Greece, however, in all the other regions the temperature will remain at very high levels.
Greek summer arrived bringing a great rise in temperatures all over Greece reaching up to 43°C with people flocking to bathing beaches to cool themselves.
Meteorologists forecast that the heat wave will continue and warn of a high risk for fires, while on Saturday the temperature reached 43°C in some cities of Greece, such as Sparta.
