Greek hospital workers call 4-hour stoppages on Wednesday, June 29

Greece’s nationwide federation of public hospital employees (POEDIN) has called a four-hour walkout on Wednesday, between 11:00 and 15:00, in order to protest the deconstruction of the national healthcare system, emergency ambulance services and welfare system.

In its statement, it has called all employees in welfare services and public hospitals to attend a demonstration outside the Ministry of Health at 11:30. Similar demonstrations will also be carried out in other major cities.

Among others, the federation argues that employees in public hospitals must be offered permanent contracts, underlined the need for further recruitments and increasing funding and demands free healthcare with universal access to all.
