The Women’s Tennis Association has ranked Maria Sakkari 94th in the world, thanks to a series of impressive appearances in recent international tournaments.
Last year the Greek champion ranked 188th and the year before she ranked 301st. By ranking within the top 100 players, Sakkari automatically qualified for the Grand Slams.
The 21-year-old tennis champion made her Grand Slam debut in 2015 at the US Open and made her second appearance at the Australian Open in 2016.
