Greek hotelier Konstantinos Mitsis, the founder of the homonymous hotel chain and publisher of Greek Vradini newspaper, passed away on Sunday, August 28.
He moved to Athens from Epirus at a young age and, at 17, opened a small textile enterprise with 30 employees which in less than ten years employed 170 people.
Ultimately, he became involved in the hospitality industry and in 1978 opened his first hotel, Ramira, on the Greek island of Kos. Today Mitsis hotels are to be found in Rhodes, Crete, Corfu, Athens, Mykonos, Ioannina, and Kamena Vourla while the the business group is also active in publishing, textiles, construction and winemaking.
The funeral service is to be held on Tuesday, August 30, at 15:00, at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens and he will be buried in his hometown of Kryoneri, Ioannina, on Wednesday.
