The Greek government added on Thursday an amendment to the TV licensing law which would require the agreement of the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV) in determining the starting price for a broadcasting licence at the auction.
The amendment was proposed by SYRIZA lawmaker Spyros Lappas and accepted by State Minister Nikos Pappas, who urged the opposition parties to recognize it as another step towards consensus.
“I welcome the course of this debate … and I think we can complete it today and continue, in good faith, in the next meeting of Parliament Presidents, so we can complete this necessary step,” Pappas said during a debate in parliament.
