Greek national football team fan assaulted with knife

The “Galanolefkos Faros” [Blue and white beacon] fan club of the Greek national football team issued a statement alleging that a fat was assaulted with a knife by hooligans, during the recent friendly match against Belarus at the Karaiskakis stadium in Piraeus.

According to the fan club, a group of about 15 hooded hooligans approached the fans at the end of the match and violently took a trumpet from a fan. The fan club notes that there were no police or security guards present at the time of the assault.

Additionally, the fan club notes that it did not come forward with the complaint earlier, so to avoid causing tension before Sunday evening’s match with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The statement concludes that the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) replaced the trumpet as soon as it was informed and underlined that it will continue to support the national football team.
