Cyprus firmly denies any reports of requesting the transfer of water from Turkey, the Ministry of Agriculture has stressed.
In a written statement issued on Monday, following claims by the Turkish Minister of Forestry and Water Veysel Eroglu that Cyprus had placed a request via the authorities in the northern Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus, the Cyprus Ministry points out, has not and does not intend to request the transfer of water from Turkey and that Cyprus’ desalination plants can produce water to cover all the needs.
Currently there is a complete strategy for the management of water resources is in place and all necessary infrastructure projects are promoted to meet the country’s needs in water.
