Greek Deputy Minister for Migration Policy Yannis Mouzalas appealed to the islanders to accept and contribute to the construction of reception facilities for migrants and refugees warning that otherwise the EU – Turkey Agreement on the refugee might collapse.
The Minister denounced the attitude of the municipality of Chios accusing it of preventing the construction of a new camp despite the fact that it had initially agreed to this solution. The Minister also accused the “New Democracy” of stirring behaviors and actions that undermine the creation of closed detention centers in various islands.
