Customs office at Greece-FYROM border closed by Greek farmers

The customs office at Evzones, near Greece’s border with FYROM, was blocked by farmers and livestock farmers from the municipality of Peonia on Saturday, who are protesting about the increase in taxation and changes in their social security fees.

Speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency, the president of their union Thomas Karipidis, said the office will be closed until 15:00 unless “it is deemed necessary” to open it if traffic piles up.

Around 50 tractors and 50 farming vehicles have been parked around the customs office which closed at noon.
