The Greek government has submitted a legislative provision for the one-off payment of a benefit for low-income pensioners. The provision will be voted upon on Thursday 15 December, with the benefit being paid out by Thursday 22 December.
According to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Insurance Antonis Petropoulos of the 1.6 million beneficiaries, about 500,000 will receive a sum equal to their pension. This benefit will be paid out to pensioners whose income is up to 850 euros per month. The minimum sum paid out will be 300 euros.
