A nationwide survey by the National School of Public Health (ESDY) has revealed that living under prolonged stressful circumstances has caused Greeks to complain of mental health issues such as depression, acute stress and other emotional problems.
The data showed that in 2015 adults who were surveyed by ESDY (around 53.9 percent of people surveyed), said that they were suffering from mental health issues while 24.8 percent said that their mental health issues interfered in their daily lives.
Other findings were that only four in 10 people said that they moderately enjoyed their lives and one in 10 said they felt like their life had little or no meaning. This data shows that the cases of depression in Greece have increased from 2.6 percent in 2008 to 4.7 percent in 2015.
