Greek prosecutor argues against extradition of 4 Turkish army officers

A deputy prosecutor asked judges in the penal section of the Supreme Court to reject Turkey’s extradition request for four Turkish army officers in the third session held in the top court on the appeals of a total of eight officers who fled to Greece after the failed coup attempt in the neighbouring country.

Nikos Pantelidis explained in a lengthy speech to the top judges why the defendants must not be extradited, citing the main provisions on the protection of human rights as outlined in the European Convention, adding that there is no evidence to support the view that they will receive a fair trial if they are sent back to Turkey.
