Cyprus police identify escaped Russian suspect as search continues

A Russian man, aged 42, who was set to appear in Nicosia court on Monday has escaped police, SigmaLive has learnt. 

The suspect has been identified as Arthur (Garibian) Kuzetsov.

The man was arrested after police determined that there was an international arrest warrant issued for him by Russian police for involvement in a narcotics case.  

SigmaLive has learnt that the man escaped on a motorcycle that was awaiting him outside the Nicosia District Court.  

The man was sentenced to two years jail time in Russia for the narcotics case, but was able to escape to Cyprus, where he was arrested anew.  

SigmaLive also learnt that the man holds both a Russian and a Ukrainian passport.

Police have released an image of the man, which can be seen below.  

 

Police are still searching for the man.
