Greek Migration minister hails work of Church’s NGO in helping children

Greek Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Mouzalas hailed the work of the Greek Church’s charity “Apostoli” during a visit to the hostel for unaccompanied minors “Estia” on Tuesday.

“Here today, we meet with our ancient culture with Orthodoxy. That is, we meet with the foreigner and love,” the minister said. “Through these houses, the Church gives children their childhood and, after they’ve regained it, can then plan their future.” Mouzalas mentioned three children of “Estia” who went on to study in university.

On his side, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos II, spoke of the need to help people from different traditions and religions.

“It’s a strange problem of our times: We’re from different places, different people, different religions, different traditions, but we try to live well and peacefully- and to a large extent we achieve it,” he said.
