Greek environment ministry has advised Attica residents to avoid lighting fireplaces, stoves and furnaces using solid or biomass fuels (wood, coal, charcoal) on Thursday and Friday, due to weather conditions (low wind and temperature inversion) that promote the formation of smog.
The ministry will continue to monitor the rates of suspended particles on a 24-hour basis and make further announcements if there is a notable change, an announcement said.
