Greek court rules on DOL media group’s assets freeze

A First Instance Court in Greece will decide on Tuesday (Feb. 7) whether to temporarily freeze the sale of any assets of the bankrupt DOL media group and whether it will exempt one bank account to allow for the payment of the group’s employees. DOL’s 500 employees have not been paid in seven months. 

In a court hearing on Friday, representatives of the four banks with outstanding loans to DOL requested the temporary halt of any liquidation of its assets in favour of other creditors. On their side, the group’s employees asked the court to exempt a specific bank account where DOL’s sale revenues and earnings are deposited, so they can receive part of their unpaid wages and ensure the viability of the newspapers.
