Protothema.gr reports that after an investigation by Greek authorities it was revealed that the Hellenic Society for Protection of Intellectual Property (AEPI) was not paying the fines it had collected to the lawful recipients while the CEO’s monthly salary was an astonishing 52.000 Euros.
According to the same sources, almost 42 million euros were not being distributed to the beneficiaries, while executives secured high salaries for themselves and even gave each other…loans!
AEPI represents 14.540 Greek and around 2.200.000 foreign artists through representation contracts.
The company agreed to withhold 10% of the rights and the fines it was collecting to support cultural purposes and charity, something which reportedly was not happening as well.
