Unexploded WWII bomb disposal completed successfully in Thessaloniki

The disposal of an unexploded WWII bomb that was found in the municipality of Kordelio, Thessaloniki was completed by the Greek army’s bomb squad on Sunday. The unexploded bomb was found under a petrol station. The area has been evacuated early on Sunday and 70,000 citizens left their homes until the operation is concluded.

“The first phase of the operation has been completed successfully, the explosive mechanism has been deactivated and now we continue to the second phase which is the removal of the bomb from the area. Danger still exists and the citizens must stay away until the bomb is removed” stated Central Macedonia governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas
