Togo-flagged freighter ‘Bellatrix’ runs aground north of Lesvos

The Togo-flagged freighter “Bellatrix” which ran aground on a reef north of the island of Lesvos on Thursday has tilted slightly and took on some water, authorities said on Friday.

The ship had 12 foreign crew members on broad who are all safe. Coast guard officials inspected the vessel and a tug boat has set up a floating dam to prevent contamination.

The “Bellatrix” had set sail from Ukraine with a load of grains and was heading to Izmir.
