Greek foreign ministry congratulated on Tuesday Law professor Linos-Alexander Sicilianos for his election as Vice-President of the European Court of Human Rights, for the next three years. Sicilianos was elected on Monday and will take over his new duties on May 1.
“The well-deserved election of Mr. Sicilianos, a respected legal expert of international renown and Professor of international law at the University of Athens, is an honour for both himself and Greece,” the ministry said in a press release and wished him success in his new position.
Sicilianos is a Professor of International Law at the Law faculty of the University of Athens and Judge at the European Court of Human Rights since 18 May 2011.
