Egnatia Odos workers in northern Greece to hold 24-hour strike on Tuesday

Workers at Egnatia motorway (Egnatia Odos) have declared a 24-hour strike on Tuesday 2 May protesting against the concession plans, the use of company’s available funds for urgent works of maintenance and the immediate establishment of a total e-toll system.

The strike will be held the same day of the tender for the construction of a new toll station on the motorway.

“The workers remain adamant against the planned privatisation of the motorway and of most of the already constructed strategic network of motorways in northern Greece because it is against the public interest and will only benefit the concessor and will further burden the citizens with a further increase on the toll rates”, said Egnatia Odos workers in their announcement.
