Greek government Vice-President Yiannis Dragasakis and Deputy Shipping and Island Policy Minister Nektarios Santorinios had a series of meetings with local authorities and local MPs on the Aegean island of Leros on Friday, to discuss solutions to the island’s problems. “The wealth of every island is its unique identity – Growth with the participation of local communities,” Dragasakis later noted in a post on his Twitter account. After the meetings, Dragasakis visited the war museum on the island of Leros. Dragasakis and Santorinios are also scheduled to visit the Greek island of Patmos on Friday, for the launch of operations of a desalination plant there. In a post on Thursday about his visit, he had noted that Greece’s islands were “a component part of our identity” and a “key pillar” in efforts to exit the crisis.
