In a historical gesture, Metropolitan Archbishop Athenagoras will be taking a four-day trip to Jamaica, making him the first of a Metropolitan Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church to visit the island.
The Metropolitan Archbishop Athenagoras is currently the Ruling Hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Mexico, Central America, Columbia, Venezuela, and the Caribbean Islands under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople in Turkey.
The trip will kick off this Friday where Metropolitan Archbishop Athenagoras will travel to the Caribbean island to meet with the Faithful of the Jamaica Orthodox Mission which was established in 2015 by the Metropolitan-Archbishop of Mexico. His trip will revolve around guiding the Church and spreading the Orthodox Christian Faith in Jamaica.
