No veterinary medical products containing fipronil are sold in the Greek market for poultry farming, the ministry of agricultural development and food clarified in a press release on Friday.
It noted other products containing the chemical substance and intended for pets or other outdoor biocides are not used in poultry farming because of their form (gel, injection, spot on, spray).
However, the Directorate-General for Sustainable Animal Production and Veterinary Medicine along with the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) conducted sample checks in eggs and poultry meat to detect whether traces of fipronil was present, as well as checks on imports from third countries.
