The beaches between Voula and Sounio, which make up the southern part of the region of eastern Attica around Athens, are clean have not been affected by the oil spill which leaked from a tanker anchored in Salamina last Sunday, a team from the competent regional unit found on Friday.
The team executed an on-site inspection and a macroscopic check this morning along the Saronic coastline in the area within its administrative boundaries.
In a letter to the four mayors of the municipalities concerned, Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, Kropia, Saronicos (does not include Salamina) and Lavreotiki, the deputy regional governor of eastern Attica Petros Filippou told them about the team’s findings and asked them to report any pollution that may appear along their coasts.
