A meeting was convened at Greece’s immigration policy ministry on Monday to discuss the possibility of converting the Lavrio Migrants Center in northeast Attica into a permanent facility that may be eligible for European Union funding.
The meeting included National Immigration Policy Minister Giannis Mouzalas, Deputy Minister Giannis Balafas, Deputy Regional Governor for Eastern Attica Petros Filippou and Lavreotiki Mayor Dimitris Loukas.
Deputy governor Filippou offered to help in upgrading the center, which faces a lot of issues, with all necessary structural work to improve the living conditions for refugees.
