Central roads in Athens and Piraeus in Greece will close and parking will be forbidden on Saturday due to the student parades celebrating the “Ochi Day”, which commemorates Greek dictator Ioannis Metaxas’s rejection of an Italian ultimatum demanding a right of passage through Greece on October 28, 1940.
Traffic in the two cities will change ahead of the parades as follows:
ATHENS (For the main student parade, 09:00 until its end)
- -Amalias Avenue, Panepistimiou Avenue, Vasilisis Sofias Avenue at the section between Vasileos Konstantinou and Panepistimiou Avenues in both lanes.
- – Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens (from 06:00 until the end of the celebrations)
- -Mitropoleos Street
- -Vasilisis Olgas Avenue, both lanes
PIRAEUS (07:00-14:00)
- -34st Pezikou Syntagmatos Street, the section between Skylitsi and Venizelou Streets
- -Iroon Polytechniou Street, the section between Venizelou and 2nd Merarhias
- -Vasileos Georgiou, the section between Ethnikis Adistaseos and Grigoriou Lambraki
