Report: True sexual harassment stories turned to short films in Greece (videos)

General Secretariat for Gender Equality (SGGA) released four short films based on true stories highlighting the issue of sexual harassment in Greece.

The four videos were produced ahead of the occasion of the World Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, on November 25.

According to GSGE all four videos dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace, in education and health institutions, are based on true stories.

GSGE says that it’s about time that the issue is discussed openly in Greece. The producers hope their campaign will raise awareness on the issue that remains a taboo.

The Secretary General for Gender Equality, Fotini Kouvela, said that “the purpose of the spots prepared by GSGE is to open up the debate on the issue of sexual harassment in our country with the ultimate aim of strengthening the institutional framework and creating social conditions, in which sexual harassment will no longer be tolerated.”

Well-known Greek actors such as Natalia Dragoumi, Maria Solomou, Giannis Zouganelis and others are featured in the shorts.

Greek society is particularly sensitive to sexual harassment regardless of whether it concerns locals or tourists.
