The Greek-American who played key role in capture of bomber in NYC

AP reported from New York that a man with a pipe bomb strapped to him set off the crude device in the subway near Times Square on Monday, injuring the suspect and three other people at the height of the morning rush hour.

The National Herald has received information that Greek-American John Pappas of the K-9 unit played a critical role in the capture of the bomber. A family friend of the police officer contacted TNH to express pride in the efforts of Pappas whom he called “a hero.”

The man along with three others were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The officials spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the blast.
