Two light tremors shook the area of Kilkis early on Tuesday, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, ANA reports.
The first one measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale took place at 00:13. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 28 kilometres north-west of Kilkis and the second one, at 06:24, was 25 kilometres north-west of Kilkis or 367 kilometres north of Athens.
Two days earlier, on Sunday 31 December 2017, a light quake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was recorded at 06:02 on Sunday, according to the Geodynamics Institute of Athens’ National Observatory.
Occasional earthquakes do occur in Greece but, overall, the country continues to boast one of the highest safety and security records worldwide.
