Joint Search and Rescue exercise took place in south coast of Cyprus

A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) Daylight Exercise,“CYPΙΤΑ – 01/18” was carried out on Monday, in the south coast of Cyprus, with the participation of SAR Units and Personnel of the Republic of Cyprus and the Italian Frigate “ESPERO” of the Italian Navy.

A press statement issued by the Defence Ministry says that the exercise is conducted within the framework of cooperation development, aiming the successful confrontation of Search and Rescue incidents or emergency situations that might arise during operations within the Exclusive Economic Zone and the Search and Rescue Region of the Republic of Cyprus.

 The Italian and the SAR Helicopters of the Republic of Cyprus participated in the Aeronautical SAR Exercise under the operational control and full coordination of the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) Larnaca.
