Popular Greek American Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston turns 49 today

Greekcitytimes.com wished Happy Birthday to Hollywood’s sweetheart Jennifer Aniston who was born on February 11, 1969 in California, to Greek actor John Aniston and English actress Nancy Dow.

Jennifer spent a year of her childhood living in Greece with her family, chiefly in Athens and Crete, which is where her family is from. They then relocated to New York City, where Jennifer’s father landed his role of “Victor Kiriakis”, on the daytime soap “Days of Our Lives” and her Godfather was Greek American actor Telly Savalas.

She has on numerous occasions credited her amazing and flawless appearance on her Greek background. “My dad is 100 percent Greek; he turned 84 and he barely has a wrinkle. And neither did my grandmother, who was 95 when she died,” she says.

Jennifer had her initial taste of acting at age 11 when she joined a drama club and developed a passion for the arts. She began her professional training as a drama student at New York’s School of Performing Arts, “Fame” school.

After numerous Broadway, television and film appearances, in 1994, a pilot called “Friends Like These” came along. Originally asked to audition for the role of “Monica”, Aniston refused and auditioned for the role of “Rachel Green”, the suburban princess turned coffee peddler. With the worldwide success of Friends, Jennifer became a household name in Hollywood and famous around the globe.

Since then Jennifer has focused on films and is now known as a leading film actress, with hits including Horrible Boss, Bruce Almighty, Marley & Me and The Break Up.

After her highly publicised divorce with Brad Pitt, Jeniffer has since married Justin Theroux and the happy couple reside in Los Angeles.
