Queen Sofia of Spain, wife of Spain’s former reigning monarch King Juan Carlos who abdicated in 2014, will visit the island of Crete in the near future, said Spanish Ambassador to Greece Enrique Viguera during his meeting on Wednesday with the regional governor Stavros Arnaoutakis, according to ANA.
The Spanish diplomat noted that the Spanish royal will attend events for the 40th anniversary of the founding of the University of Crete, and will also visit archaeological sites.
