Seven popular beaches in the Ionian Sea will be researched by scientists in the shadow of last week’s landslide at the Navagio Beach of Zakynthos where a woman was injured.
According to an Eleftheros Typos daily newspaper report, there are seven beaches that have been included in a EU National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) geological research program since May 2017.
The scientific program that was announced on 18 May 2017 is titled: Interventions to tackle and prevent floods, fires and soil erosion. The beaches are on Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Corfu and Lefkada.
Nevertheless, the report says, the results of the study are not expected before next summer.
Below are the seven beaches that will be studied:
- Navagio Beach, Zakynthos
- Egremni, Lefkada
- Porto katsiki, Lefkada
- Agios Nikitas, Lefkada
- Palaiokastritsa, Corfu
- Platia Ammos, Kefalonia
- Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia
