The Greek island of Zakynthos has moved at least 3.0 cm to the southwest following the strong quake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale that shook the island early on Friday, October 25.
The research director at the Geodynamics Institute of the Athens National Observatory, Dr. Athanassios Ganas, told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) on Monday that this conclusion was reached after the digital processing and analysis of radar-images taken by the EU and ESA satellite Sentinel-1 of the Copernicus service, which reflect the surface deformation on Zakynthos.
