Popular Greek actor and director Phaedon Georgitsis dies at 80

Greek actor and director Phaedon Georgitsis, one of the best-known leading men in Greek cinema, died on Friday at the age of 80. His funeral will be held on Saturday at the Nea Smyrni cemetery, ANA reports.

Born in 1939, Georgitsis starred in 13 films produced by Finos Films in the 60s and 70s, while his first-ever screen appearance was in Jules Dassin’s 1960 romantic comedy “Never on Sunday”.
