Hellenic Post has announced the release a set of two stamps depicting two common birds of the Greek countryside, the western rock nuthatch (Sitta neumayer) and Eleonora’s falcon (Falco eleonorae), as part of the Europa “National Birds” series, ANA reports.
This year’s common theme is “ National Birds” and Hellenic Post has selected to depict two of the most common birds in Greek countryside: Falco eleonorae, a symbolic hawk of the islands and Sitta neumayer, a small bird frequent located in archaeological sites and mountains.
Furthermore, for the first time this year, it is possible to download the Cee-App and hear the birds on the stamps singing
The set went into circulation on May 9, 2019 and will be available at the Hellenic post offices until May 8, 2020, unless previously sold out. Complete sets will be available at the local Hellenic post offices and at the Central Philatelic Office until their withdrawal, unless previously sold out.
