Dozens of labour centres and union federations around Greece had on Wednesday announced their intention to join a 24-hour strike on October 2, the date proposed by the temporary leadership of the General Confederation of Employees of Greece (GSEE), in protest against the government’s omnibus development bill, ANA reports.
Some, such as the Chania Labour Centre, moved the day of strike action to October 2 after the government said it was pushing back the date for the vote on the bill, which will no longer be fast-tracked but tabled at the end of the month using normal procedures.
