Greeks commemorated with national pride, the anniversary of October 28, 1940, the day that marked the beginning of a struggle which has remained in history, as a model of self-sacrifice and heroism of an entire nation. The festivities culminated with the military parade in Thessaloniki, int.ert.gr reports.
“The ‘NO’ of October 28, the ‘NO’ of the Greeks, was a supreme act of resistance against fascism in recent history and an equally supreme stand in defense of peace, democracy, and humanity,” stressed the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, after the conclusion of the parade.
“We, the Greeks, are broadcasting today the same ‘NO’, against all those who seek to strike at the universal human ideals,” underlined Mr. Pavlopoulos, and continued saying that “this ‘NO’ is especially directed to neighboring Turkey, which does not hesitate to brutally violate international legality in the Middle East.”
