EU offers €4.5 million to restore damage on island of Crete from February floods

Members of the European Parliament on Wednesday approved an EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) aid worth 4.5 million euros towards damage reconstruction in western Crete, which was struck by severe weather in February, ANA reports.

Crete’s flash flooding from the winter storm ‘Oceanis’ claimed the life of one person and had disastrous consequences on infrastructure and economic activities – roads and agriculture were gravely affected.
