The Athens Medical Association (AMA) on Wednesday announced the creation of a new information line by dialing 1110 for people to report consumer scams and price-gouging of medical supplies, greekcitytimes.com reports.
The initiative comes as many individuals around the globe have reportedly sought to prey on consumer fears during the pandemic, particularly the weak and elderly with scam products claiming to combat the coronavirus and charging ridiculous amounts for sanitary and cleaning products.
The AMA said citizens can also use the 1110 numbers to ask for coronavirus information and to also report cases of elderly people living alone who might require support.
According to the AMA, the calls are free, after an agreement with phone companies.
(The number will serve the same purpose as the coronavirus hotline, formerly 214 214 2000.)
