Returning Greeks who don’t self-isolate for two weeks face €5,000 fines

With the European Union moving toward closing the borders and stopping travel between the 27 member states to try to stop the spread of COVID-19, Greeks and other nationals who fly back and don’t stay home for 14 days will be fined 5,000 euros ($5425.)

That’s under measures implemented by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and the Civil Aviation Authority that also requires travelers to fill in a form giving their address and where they will spend the two-week self-quarantine.

The information will be forwarded to the information center set up by the agency where staff will do random telephone checks to determine whether or not travelers are complying with the quarantine without being able to confirm their identification by other means yet.
