Greek government: Battle with virus won only when vaccine is found

Commenting on the latest developments concerning the pandemic, Greek government spokesperson Stelios Petsas repeated that the virus has not gone away, that it is here and feeds on people’s carelessness and complacency. “We have been sounding the alarm for many weeks now, not only through statements but with successive decisions for an increase of checks and the imposition of additional measures, especially the use of masks indoors,” he said.

Petsas announced further measures to help contain the spread of coronavirus on Thursday, after an uptick in cases, while stressing that the battle against the virus will not be over until a vaccine is found.

At the same time, he continued, inspections to ensure compliance with a ban on standing customers at all nightclubs, in effect until Sunday, will intensify.
