Greek Deputy Minister for Civil Protection & Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias announced the tightening of preventive restrictions for the Attica and Trikala regions, speaking at Tuesday’s live briefing on the coronavirus latest facts and figures, ANA reports.
- Effective as of Wednesday, attendees at live concerts in open-air venues must not exceed a 50 pct venue capacity, they must be seated, not smoke or drink alcohol, and must wear face masks at all times. The operation of indoor live venues and concert halls is suspended for 14 days, also as of Wednesday.
- Cinemas and theaters must operate at a 60 pct capacity maximum.
- Wearing face masks is mandatory at all indoor public and private spaces and at all outdoor places where many people may often gather, such as public squares, bus stops, and long queues at shops and public services.
- Restaurants will continue to operate with a maximum of six seated customers.
The minister also announced that the region of Trikala is being placed under epidemiological surveillance with the following measures coming into effect as of 06:00 on Wednesday: a ban on the operation of restaurants and entertainment venues from midnight to 07:00 in the morning, and a maximum of 50 people permitted at public social events and gatherings.
Another 310 confirmed coronavirus infections were announced on Tuesday, of which 30 are linked to known clusters and 12 were identified at entry points to Greece, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) noted.
All currently confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in Greece total 13,730.
Of the total, 2,433 are linked to travel abroad and 5,901 to already known cases.
Furthermore, EODY said 67 people were intubated. Their median age is 70 years, and 17 of them are women. An 88.1 pct has an underlying condition or are aged 70 years and above.
Another 175 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
EODY also notes three more deaths due to the virus, bringing Greek fatalities to 313. Of these, 116 were women. The median age of all was 78 years and 96.2 pct had an underlying condition and/or age of 70 years or more.
Geographically speaking, the highest concentrations in cases were registered in the Region of Attica (197), Thessaloniki (22), Lesvos island (15, related to Moria hotspot), and Pella (9).
